The Soccer Culture in Mexico

Soccer in Mexico is not just a game; it's a way of life. Mexicans are passionate about the sport and follow it religiously. It's not uncommon to see fans proudly displaying their team colors and waving flags on game day. The country's love for soccer is rooted in its history, and the sport has played a crucial role in shaping the Mexican identity.

The Local Tulum Soccer Team

If you're interested in watching a live Tulum soccer match, head over to the town's local soccer team. The team's name is Club Deportivo Tulum, and it plays in the third division of Mexico's soccer league. It's an excellent opportunity to see the sport played at a competitive level and experience the passion that the fans bring to the game.

Local Courts to Play Soccer in Tulum

If you want to join in on the fun and play ball, there are several options. You'll find two turf (fake grass) soccer courts and a few open multifunction concrete courts throughout the town. Some locations to play or watch soccer include:

  • Tulum Sports Center: This big facility has a range of fields including baseball, tennis, and soccer courts. One of which is a big turf field used by the local teams. It's often unlocked for open play. Also, a smaller court behind it is not gated and is used by locals to play often.
  • Campo Futbol Rapido 2 Agua: Located at the Parque Dos Aguas in the center, next to the Municipio de Tulum. Mostly used by the local team and is good to watch a game.
  • Parque Colonia Croc: This concrete court has soccer sidelines, and goals and is roofed. It's also often used by the locals in the evening and you can join them.
  • There are more multifunction concrete fields around the center and we will all have more soon listed, but just driving around the city will easily spot them.

Play Beach Soccer with Friends

Playing beach soccer in Tulum isn't the worst thing you can do. The sandy surface adds an extra challenge to the game, and it's a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. The best place would be the Public Beach of Tulum 'Playa Las Palmas', which is directed to the left when driving the main road to the beach. Further down the public beach road is IKAL, which has also a beach volleyball setup, and flat sand in front to play on.

Buy Soccer Equipment at Chedraui
