Experience the Magic of Tulum

Tulum: If you are looking for an adventure, Tulum is the place. It is an uprising, not-so-small, town on the coast of Mexico, near Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

The name means "wall" in Mayan, which is fitting because there are some stunning ancient ruins to explore here and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.

Tulum was once a thriving Mayan city from 1200 CE until around 1550 CE. Today, it's popular among travelers for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, and ancient ruins that have been well preserved by time. If you're looking for an adventure that combines history, culture, relaxation, and delicious food — this is your destination!

Where and how to get to Tulum?

Tulum is located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It's about 60 minutes south of Playa del Carmen by car and about two hours from Cancun airport. The drive itself will be more than worth the trip because the landscape is absolutely stunning: white sand beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and lush green jungle are everywhere you look. You can find more in our transportation guide: How to get to Tulum.

Tulum Activities

There are plenty of things to do in Tulum - all kinds of activities for everyone! There's snorkeling on the beach, swimming in the ocean or pool, relaxing with a massage, or getting pampered at one of many spas around town (my favorite is Casa Oceana). There are also plenty of great restaurants serving up delicious local cuisines like seafood tacos, ceviche, and coconut ice cream! And of cause, the night life and parties are from another world!

Healing & Wellness

If you're looking for something more wellness-focused than laying out on the beach all day long, there are plenty of options available too: yoga classes, meditations, ice baths, and (floating water) massages.
Are you looking more for ancient Mayan healing traditions? It's also a known destination for its natural healing ceremonies like Temazcal (a traditional sweat lodge) where participants sweat out toxins through steam baths and then cool off with a swim in the ocean.
The traditional cacao ceremonies will open up your heart chakra, and the full-moon ceremonies around a fire at the beach are also magical.
